Troubleshooting

Find what you're seeing in the left column. If it's not here, send me the log.

What you're seeing Probably Fix
[RFM-TOPOLOGY] ERROR no Flight Topology config is authored Flight Topology Config is empty Make one (step 4). Every RFM aircraft needs it.
ERROR rotor '…' references missing power group / missing output A typo in an ID IDs have to match exactly, capitals included
ERROR rotor IDs must be non-empty and unique A duplicate or blank Id Rename it
[RFM-TOPOLOGY] ERROR rotor '…' is missing: … Required rotor data isn't filled in (new rotor configs start empty) Fill in the fields it lists
[RFM-TOPOLOGY] ERROR power group '…': engine '…' Rated Power is 0 (or Transmission Limit, Governed RPM) Required engine data isn't filled in Put in the ratings in watts and the 100 % speed in main rotor RPM
[RFM-SETUP] ERROR Empty Mass is 0 No empty mass set Flight → 02 Mass and CG → Empty Mass
[RFM-LINT] WARNING … Probably a setup mistake Each line tells you what to change
Changing something in the inspector does nothing The prefab or world wasn't saved, or a script changed while the World Editor was open Save the prefab and the world. After script changes, close and reopen the World Editor.
A part's in the wrong place or pointing the wrong way A PointInfo, bone or axis Turn on the Draw switches (debug drawing) and compare against the model
It spins on the ground as the rotor spools up The tail rotor's pushing the wrong way Flip the tail Shaft Axis (anti-torque table)
Pedals are backwards Control map sign Flip the sign of Collective From Yaw
Only one pedal direction does anything The neutral pitch is off-centre Use the three-point yaw curve, or adjust Collective Bias
Cyclic is backwards or rotated 90° Cyclic sign or phase Flip Cyclic Long/Lat Sign. Keep Phase Deg at 90 unless you've got data.
Rotor never gets to 100 %, or overspeeds The RPM numbers don't match Engine Governed RPM = system Governed Rotor RPM = rotor Nominal RPM, and tail RPM = main × ratio
Engine's off and the rotor windmills like crazy in light wind Inertia's too small, or in the wrong field Check the [RFM] reference power system driven inertia, and put the rotor inertia on the output branch (Where does the rotor's spinning mass go?). Without a rotor brake (Rotor Brake Installed off, like the Huey), slow windmilling in strong wind is normal.
Changing Rotor Side Inertia Kg M2 does nothing There are output branches Edit the branch Inertia instead
Lifts off at way too little or way too much collective Mass, pitch range or wind Check Empty Mass, Collective Min/Max Deg and the pitch reference station, then test again with the wind off
Drifts, pitches or rolls on its own in the hover The CG's in the wrong place Check Empty Mass Point and Fuel Point against the hub position
Bounces or jitters on the ground Springs too stiff or too soft, or the points are in the wrong place Check the support and strut points first, then spring ÷ static load
Rocks side to side on wheels with the rotor turning Sideways tire force Test with Mu Lateral at 0, then Mu Longitudinal at 0. Don't just cover it up with huge damping.
Articulated rotor shakes or wobbles, worse on the ground or at certain rotor speeds Not enough lag damping, or none Set Lag Damper Nm Per Rad Sec (hub table)
Rotor RPM drops in autorotation and won't come back Rotor inertia's too small, or Collective Min Deg is too high Check the driven inertia, and that full-down collective gives low enough pitch
An extra rotor doesn't spin visually It couldn't find the visual Check the [RFM-VIS] warning, and set Slot Name or Model Token
The pilot's aircraft jitters online Vanilla network movement is still on NwkHeliMovementComponent Enabled 0 in every child prefab
The pilot moves but nobody else sees it The network component is missing Add RFM_NetworkReplicationComponent, and test on a real dedicated server
The visible rotor turns the wrong way Just a visual thing Visuals Spin Sign
Gauges are dark with the engine running Animation graph variables Send the signals your graph actually reads, and don't start the vanilla engine
Damage does nothing The bridge isn't ready The Zone names have to match your hit zones exactly
Weapon mass doesn't change The station didn't bind Check Source Type, then Vanilla Slot Name / Weapon Slot Index / Mount Point, and the [RFM-STORE] lines
A variant loses stations or doors Array override Keep the object IDs, and check the effective array after saving
The log fills up before the bit you need Print rate Raise Debug Log Interval
