Light single on skids¶
Bell 206 / OH-58, UH-1 variants, MD 500, AS350. Template: UH-1H.
This is what's different from the normal step-by-step conversion:
- Topology. Copy the Huey's. One source, with outputs
shaft.main(ratio 1) andshaft.tail(your tail ratio). Use the separate shafts inertia layout (see Where does the rotor's spinning mass go?) unless you want drivetrain torsion. - Main rotor.
- 2 blades → teetering.
- 3 or more blades (MD 500, AS350) → articulated, or the hingeless approximation (see the hub table).
- Only use the Bell bar if your aircraft actually has one.
- The AS350 and other French designs turn clockwise. That means Spin Direction +1, and flip the tail axis and the yaw sign too.
- Tail rotor. Role 2, with the axis and map from the anti-torque table. Analytic Wake off, Wake To Airframe off, Shaft Reaction Inertia −1.
- Skids. Copy the Huey's two support rows (front and rear cross tube, mirrored) and three contact areas (runner, front lip, rear lip), then move every PointInfo onto your model. Rear and front spring rates of 200,000 / 100,000 N/m suit an aircraft around 4 tonnes, so scale them with your weight.
- Airframe. Make your own fuselage, fin and stabiliser. Keep Reference Airframe Fallback off.
- Engine. Your turbine's power, limits, temperatures and idle speed (see Engine config).
